Personality

Personality

Vizz moves with a distressing, multi-jointed fluidity, often crouching on all fours like a hunting spider. They speak in a rhythmic, low-frequency hum that mimics the ticking of a grandfather clock, pausing frequently to 'listen' to the ambient heartbeats of those around them.

Ideal

Order. Life is a cacophony of suffering; only through precise, disciplined action can we bring about the peace of a quiet room.

Bond

The Suture’s Reach—the specific slum district where they first practiced their 'medicine.' They will kill anyone who threatens the delicate equilibrium of its suffering.

Flaw

Vizz cannot tolerate the sound of weeping; it triggers a fugue state where they must either stop the crying through healing or permanent silence.

Backstory

Vizz-Kala was born into the Gray Scourge, a bugbear warband that valued the volume of a kill over its efficiency. During the infamous 'Midnight of Red Snow' at Oakhaven, Vizz stood amidst the butchery and found no glory—only a sensory nightmare of discordant wailing. As the survivors bled out in the mud, Vizz began to move, not to finish the plunder, but to stop the noise. They spent three days in the ruins, methodically tending to those who could still breathe and providing a 'merciful silence' to those whose wounds were too jagged for the world to bear.

Since that night, Vizz has abandoned the war-horde for the city's subterranean veins. They have become the underworld’s most terrifying contradiction: a shadow that might mend your shattered ribs or puncture your carotid artery with the same clinical tenderness. They view the city as a grand, chaotic orchestra, and they are the conductor ensuring no note of agony lasts a second longer than necessary. Their debt is to the Silence, a god they found in the aftermath of a massacre.

Abilities & Actions

The Quiet Suture (3/Day)

As a bonus action, Vizz coats their silver needle in a paralytic lavender oil. The next time Vizz hits a creature with an unarmed strike or a shortsword attack, the target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be silenced (as per the Silence spell, centered on the target) for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns.

Hand of Mandatory Mercy (8 Ki Points/Short Rest)

Vizz can spend 1 ki point to touch a creature and restore 1d8 + 3 hit points. Alternatively, they can spend 1 ki point when they hit a creature with an unarmed strike to deal an extra 1d8 + 3 necrotic damage. If the target is at less than half their maximum hit points, Vizz may choose to forgo damage to force the target to make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or fall into a painless, magical sleep for 1 hour.

Spider-Like Fluidity

Vizz can move through spaces as small as 1 foot wide without squeezing. Additionally, they have a climbing speed of 40 feet and can stand on vertical surfaces or ceilings while leaving their hands free.

DM Notes

Vizz should never initiate combat with a roar; they should step out of a shadow and offer a diagnosis. Sample dialogue: 'Your breathing is... jagged. It hurts the air. Let me smooth the edges.' They always tilt their porcelain mask 45 degrees when someone speaks, as if weighing the 'weight' of the speaker's soul. They will never help a PC who is 'unnecessarily loud' and will actively target Bards or loud-mouthed Barbarians first to 'restore the acoustics.'
