Personality

Personality

Pyra speaks with a rhythmic, academic cadence, often using forestry metaphors to describe human emotions. She is perpetually smudged with soot and has a habit of gently blowing embers from her fingertips when she’s deep in thought.

Ideal

Renewal. For something beautiful to grow, the suffocating clutter of the past must sometimes be reduced to ash.

Bond

Sparky, my fire-spirit, is the keeper of my joy and the proof that fire can be a companion rather than a master.

Flaw

I sometimes struggle to see the value in preservation, occasionally encouraging people to walk away from their lives too quickly in search of a 'fresh bloom'.

Backstory

Pyra was born into the Smolder-Tooth clan, a war-clutch that viewed fire only as a tool for terror. While her kin cheered as the Great Weald burned, Pyra lingered in the ruins. Expecting to find only death, she instead witnessed the 'Phoenix-Cycle' firsthand: within days, the scorched earth birthed a carpet of fire-lilies, more vibrant than any flower she had ever seen. The realization hit her with the force of a tidal wave—fire wasn't an ending; it was a mandatory clearing of the way.

She fled her clan, carrying a handful of sentient ash that eventually coalesced into 'Sparky,' a Wildfire Spirit that took the form of a mischievous, glowing red panda. Pyra spent years studying under hermits and scholars, translating the laws of the forest into a philosophy of 'Social Ecology.' She now wanders the world not as a destroyer, but as a counselor who uses the flame to burn away the 'deadwood' of the soul—stagnant grudges, paralyzing fears, and the rot of old traditions that no longer serve the living.

Abilities & Actions

Summon Wildfire Spirit (2/Short Rest)

Pyra summons Sparky, a spirit of flame in the form of a red panda. Each creature within 10 feet of the spirit when it appears must make a DC 15 Dex save or take 2d6 fire damage. Sparky stays for 1 hour, can teleport Pyra and allies 15 feet as a bonus action (leaving a burst of flame), and adds 1d8 to Pyra's fire or healing spells while active.

The Lesson of the Ash

When Pyra casts a spell that deals fire damage or restores hit points, she can choose one creature affected by the spell. That creature is sheathed in 'Renewal Embers.' The next time that creature takes damage before the start of Pyra's next turn, the embers flare, granting the creature 1d8 + 4 temporary hit points as the 'deadwood' of the injury is purged.

Social Pruning (3/Day)

As an action, Pyra can touch a creature and use her understanding of 'Social Ecology' to burn away a mental burden. She casts 'Lesser Restoration', but the process is accompanied by a harmless, warm wreath of smoke that smells of cedar and rain.

DM Notes

Pyra is not a typical 'chaotic' goblin. She is serene, patient, and deeply intellectual. She reacts to aggression with pity, seeing it as 'stagnant brush' that needs clearing. Sample dialogue: 'You carry so much dry tinder in your heart, traveler. Are you not tired of the weight? Perhaps it is time for a controlled burn so you might finally breathe.' She often carries a small journal bound in charred leather where she notes the 'growth rates' of people she meets.
