Backstory

In the crystalline spires of the Winter Court, silence is the only acceptable music and stillness the only permitted dance. Solasthi was born a 'defect'—a child of the frost who carried a raging, solar furnace where her heart should have been. Her kin viewed her internal heat as a sickness, a vulgar intrusion of Summer that threatened their brittle elegance. For decades, they forced her into vaults of absolute zero, attempting to 'cure' her by quenching her spirit in ritualistic ice.

She did not break; she ignited. Realizing that to stay was to be extinguished, she shattered her icy restraints in a burst of golden brilliance and fled to the Material Plane. She found that here, unlike in the Feywild, people sought out the sun. She adapted her courtly dances into the martial art of the Sun Soul, treating every strike as a note in a symphony of light. She wanders now not as a conqueror, but as a pilgrim of warmth, terrified that if she stops moving, the biting loneliness of the Winter Court will finally catch up to her and turn her heart to stone.

Abilities & Actions

Sovereign Hearth (Passive Quirk)

Solasthi’s internal furnace creates a 10-foot aura of gentle warmth. Within this radius, the temperature is always a comfortable 72 degrees, and non-magical frost or snow melts instantly. As a bonus action, she can touch a flammable object that isn't being worn or carried and ignite it, or cause a circle of clover to bloom in a 5-foot patch of soil or melted snow.

Radiant Sun Bolt (Action)

Solasthi hurls a bolt of searing golden light from her palms. Ranged Spell Attack: +7 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: 1d6 + 4 radiant damage. When she takes the Attack action on her turn, she can spend 1 spirit point to make this attack twice as a bonus action.

Fey-Step Flare (Bonus Action, 3/Day)

Solasthi teleportation is a sudden sunburst. She can magically teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space she can see. Immediately after she uses this ability, each creature of her choice within 5 feet of her takes 3 fire damage as she vents her internal summer.

Whirling Glass Kata (Spirit Ability)

When Solasthi hits a creature with a melee attack or Radiant Sun Bolt, she can spend 1 spirit point to attempt a Stunning Strike. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of her next turn as light-refracted glass shards of heat overwhelm their senses.

DM Notes

Solasthi reacts to cold environments with visible anxiety, constantly sparking small flames in her palms. She refers to the party as 'Embers' or 'Spark-kin.' If she feels rejected, she doesn't get angry—she gets quiet and cold, which is her version of a mental breakdown. Sample Dialogue: 'Don't stand so far away! The wind is biting, but I've got enough sun for all of us. See? Touch my hand—it's like a fresh loaf of bread, right?'
