Personality

Personality

Tilly speaks in a projection meant for the back row of a theater, constantly narrates her own combat actions as if they were stage directions, and carries a pouch of 'victory glitter' to toss whenever a foe falls.

Ideal

Performance. 'Life is a tragedy for those who feel, a comedy for those who think, and a masterpiece for those who hit their marks.'

Bond

Her silver-strung longbow, 'The Encore,' which she treats like a beloved co-star.

Flaw

She will actively ignore a tactical advantage if it doesn't look 'cinematic' enough.

Backstory

Tilly was born into the 'Gilded Gossamer' traveling circus, a star acrobat who could walk a wire thinner than a displacer beast's whisker. Her life changed during a midnight performance in a remote mountain village when a starving manticore tore through the canvas tent. While the audience screamed, Tilly didn't flee; she grabbed a decorative silver prop-bow, leaped from the high trapeze, and threaded an arrow through the beast's eye mid-backflip. As the creature crashed into the orchestra pit, the silence that followed was the most intoxicating sound she’d ever heard—until the village erupted in a standing ovation.

She realized then that the theater was too small for her ambition. Why perform for copper in a tent when she could perform for legends in the wild? She traded her sequins for studded leathers, though she insisted they be dyed in shimmering teals and golds. Tilly doesn't hunt for gold, or even for the safety of the realm; she hunts because a Beholder provides the perfect 'lighting' for a dramatic finishing move, and a dragon’s hoard is the only stage grand enough to hold her ego. She views every monster as a guest star in the 'Epic of Tilly,' and she is very particular about her reviews.

Abilities & Actions

Acoustics of the Lair (3/Day)

As a bonus action, Tilly lets out a sharp, operatic note to test the resonance of the area. She gains advantage on her next attack roll against a creature she can see, and if the attack hits, the target takes an extra 2d6 thunder damage as her silver bowstring vibrates in perfect harmony with the environment.

Critical Review

As a reaction when a creature Tilly can see within 60 feet misses an attack, she can mock their 'poor form.' The creature must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or have disadvantage on all attack rolls until the end of its next turn as it becomes self-conscious of its clumsiness.

The Encore (Signature Item)

Tilly’s longbow is a +2 magical weapon. When she reduces a Large or larger creature to 0 hit points with it, she can immediately use a bonus action to teleport up to 30 feet to a space on top of the creature's remains and strike a triumphant pose, gaining 15 temporary hit points.

Slayer's Counter

If a creature Tilly has marked with her Slayer's Prey feature forces her to make a saving throw, she can use her reaction to make one weapon attack against them. If the attack hits, she automatically succeeds on the saving throw in addition to the attack's normal effects.

DM Notes

Tilly is a delight to roleplay—think of her as a mix of a world-class athlete and a narcissistic lead actress. She will never just say 'hello'; she will drop from a tree canopy into a perfect three-point landing. She refers to the party as her 'supporting cast' or 'the stagehands.' Her deal-breaker is anyone who tries to upstage her during a killing blow. If the party asks for help, she doesn't ask for gold; she asks for a 500-word poem titled 'The Smallest Giant-Killer' to be read in the next three taverns they visit.
