Personality

Personality

He speaks exclusively in a beautiful, curated collage of sounds: the chime of crystal glass, the hum of a happy child, and the rustle of silk. He offers snacks constantly, even mid-combat, and tilts his head with infectious curiosity.

Ideal

Sensory Equity. No one should be denied the beauty of the world, regardless of their station or their past.

Bond

He carries a small, magically preserved jar of 'Starlight Mint,' the very first happy memory he successfully shared; he would risk his life to keep it from shattering.

Flaw

He is so addicted to beauty that he often ignores genuine danger if a sunset is particularly striking.

Backstory

For years, Vincenzo was known only as 'The Talon of Silence,' a psychic assassin for the Unseen Hand who utilized his Kenku mimicry to frame victims with their own voices. His awakening occurred during a contract on a dying monk; as he extended his psionic blade to end the man’s suffering, he felt the crushing weight of the monk's grief. Instinctively, Vincenzo didn't strike the heart—he struck the memory. He watched in awe as the monk died not in terror, but in the peaceful 'flavor' of a spring morning he had long forgotten.

Vincenzo realized then that his blades were not just tools of death, but the ultimate surgical instruments for the soul. He vanished from the underworld, reinventing himself as 'Vinyl.' He now travels the world as a 'Sensation Chef,' using his telepathic abilities to harvest the finest experiences—the smell of rain on hot stone, the sound of a perfect lute chord, the taste of a sun-warmed peach—and gifting them to those whose lives are shrouded in gray. He believes that every creature deserves to die with a mouth full of honey and a heart full of song.

Abilities & Actions

Psychic Blades (Action/Bonus Action)

Vincenzo can manifest shimmering, amethyst-colored blades of psionic energy. As an action, he makes a ranged weapon attack (range 60ft) with a blade (+9 to hit, 1d6+5 psychic damage). If he hits, he can use a bonus action to manifest a second blade and attack again (+9 to hit, 1d4+5 psychic damage). These blades leave no marks on the body, only a lingering taste of lavender.

The Sensation Chef’s Pairing (3/Day)

When Vincenzo hits a creature with his Psychic Blades, he can choose to forgo his Sneak Attack damage to instead 'infuse' the target with a borrowed sensation. The target must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be Charmed or Frightened (Vincenzo's choice) until the end of its next turn as its mind is flooded with the overwhelming taste of aged wine or the terrifying roar of a falling glacier.

Sever the Sorrow (Reaction)

When a creature within 30 feet of Vincenzo fails a saving throw against being Frightened, Charmed, or Stunned, he can throw a spectral amethyst needle. The target can reroll the saving throw with advantage. On a success, the target also regains 2d6+3 hit points as the trauma is 'trimmed' away by his psychic surgery.

Psychic Whispers (Telepathy)

Vincenzo can establish a telepathic link with up to 5 creatures within 1 mile. Instead of words, he often transmits 'sensory postcards'—the warmth of a fire or the smell of fresh bread—to convey complex emotions.

DM Notes

Vincenzo never repeats a sound exactly the same way twice. When he's happy, he mimics the sound of a bubbling brook; when he's focused, he mimics a sharpening whetstone. He will never kill a sentient creature unless they are irredeemably cruel, preferring to leave them 'tasting' their own guilt. He reacts to threats by offering a 'tasting menu' of psychic distractions.
