Personality

Personality

Oonagh constantly adjusts the straps of her allies' armor as if they were unruly school ties. She speaks in a melodic, grandmotherly lilt even when facing a Beholder, whom she might scold for 'staying up past its bedtime.'

Ideal

Sanctity. The home is the most sacred place in the multiverse, and every person deserves a safe hearth to return to.

Bond

The *Gossamer Wing*, her interplanar vessel, is her only home; she believes its faulty navigation is actually leading her toward her lost kin.

Flaw

She is pathologically incapable of admitting she is lost, often leading allies into dangerous fey-wilds under the guise of 'taking the pretty way.'

Backstory

For seven centuries, Oonagh was the 'Iron Kelpie,' a sentinel of the Star-Salt Seas who hunted interplanar predators with a cold, merciless spear. She was the line between the Material Plane and the terrors that swim in the spaces between stars. But thirty years ago, during the celestial anomaly known as the 'Tear of the Black Sun,' Oonagh spent so long holding back a tide of shadow-spawn that the planar currents shifted. When the eclipse ended, the ship carrying her grown children and grandchildren was gone, vanished into a fold of reality she could no longer find.

Since that day, the cold steel of the sentinel has softened into the warmth of a grandmother. Oonagh traded her spear for a massive Starlight Anchor and her grim resolve for a bustling, maternal fussiness. She views the people of the Material Plane as 'sweet little toddlers' who are far too fragile to be bothered by cosmic horrors. She patrols the boundaries of reality not out of hatred for the beyond, but out of a fierce, protective love for the 'inside,' convinced that every detour her ship takes is simply a scenic shortcut that will eventually lead her back to her family's doorstep.

Abilities & Actions

The Scenic Shortcut (3/Day)

As a bonus action, Oonagh can use her Fey Step (Winter). When she does, she and one willing creature within 5 feet are teleported up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space she can see. The destination space is briefly filled with the scent of cinnamon and lavender.

Star-Salt Anchor Strike

When Oonagh hits a creature with a melee weapon attack, she can expend a spell slot to deal radiant damage (Divine Smite). If the target is an aberration, celestial, elemental, fey, or fiend, the creature must succeed on a DC 16 Charisma saving throw or be anchored to its current plane, unable to use teleportation or planar travel for 1 minute.

Grandmother’s Stern Scolding (Channel Divinity)

As an action, Oonagh presents her Astrolabe. Each extraplanar creature within 30 feet must make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature is turned for 1 minute or until it takes damage, feeling a sudden, overwhelming urge to 'go home and think about what it's done.'

Aura of the Sentinel

Oonagh emits an aura of grandmotherly alertness in a 10-foot radius. She and all creatures of her choice within the aura gain a +4 bonus to initiative rolls.

DM Notes

Oonagh should be played as the party's biggest fan. She offers 'travel sweets' (Goodberries) before a fight and asks if the villains have had enough fiber. She reacts to danger by placing herself firmly in front of the weakest party member. Dialogue: 'Now, now, dearie, put that terrifying rift away before someone pokes an eye out.'
