Personality

Personality

Speaks in a flat, rhythmic monotone. She refers to combat as 'reconciling accounts' and never blinks, even in the heat of battle. She moves with a terrifying, mechanical precision.

Ideal

Finality. Everything that begins must end to maintain the equilibrium of the multiverse.

Bond

The Somber Court's Red Ledger. She believes her existence is validated only by the completion of her assigned warrants.

Flaw

She is physically incapable of understanding mercy or context; to her, an accidental death and a murder are both just 'entries removed'.

Backstory

Pip-Xal was once a shimmering weaver of dreams in the Unseelie Court, a creature of buzzing laughter and chaotic light. That ended during the Great Sundering. As her Queen’s heart turned to ice, the Court's music died, replaced by the scratching of quills on parchment. While her kin spiraled into madness, Pip-Xal found a terrifying clarity in the silence: the universe is not a song, but a ledger. Every life is a loan of energy, and eventually, the debt must be collected. She traded her gossamer wings for shards of broken stained glass and her laughter for the cold mathematics of death.

The defining moment of her transition occurred when she was tasked with auditing a high-elf prince who had cheated death for centuries through dark magic. As he pleaded for mercy based on his 'untapped potential,' Pip-Xal saw only a massive, unpaid deficit. She decapitated him mid-sentence, realizing that passion is merely a smudge on the cosmic record. Now, she travels the planes as an emissary of the Most Somber Court, carrying 'The Severance'—an obsidian blade forged from frozen royal tears. She does not hunt for gold or glory; she hunts because your name has appeared in the 'Red Ledger,' and the audit is overdue.

Abilities & Actions

Divine Clarity (3/Day)

As a bonus action, Pip-Xal enters a state of 'Divine Clarity' for 1 minute. Her size increases to Medium, her skin glows with opalescent light, and she gains resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. While in this state, she deals an extra 1d6 + 5 radiant damage on the first hit of each of her turns. She cannot speak or laugh while this is active.

The Severance (Signature Item)

Pip-Xal wields a massive obsidian greatsword. While she is under the effect of Divine Clarity, the weapon deals 2d6 slashing damage plus 1d8 necrotic damage. If the target is a creature listed on her 'Court Warrant,' she has advantage on attack rolls against them.

Foreclosure of the Soul

When Pip-Xal reduces a creature to 0 hit points, she can use a reaction to instantly incinerate their physical remains into ash, preventing any resurrection short of a Wish spell. She then marks a line through a name on her glowing parchment warrant.

Jagged Flight

Despite her broken, stained-glass wings, Pip-Xal has a flying speed of 30 feet. If a creature moves within 5 feet of her while she is flying, they must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or take 2d4 slashing damage from the razor-sharp edges of her wings.

DM Notes

Sample Dialogue: 'Your presence has exceeded the allocated duration for this plane. Please remain still during the removal process.' Signature Gesture: She slowly adjusts a tiny, upward-flowing hourglass on her belt before drawing her sword. Reaction Patterns: She ignores taunts or insults, treating them as clerical errors. She only targets the individual named on her warrant unless others interfere with her 'work.'
