Personality

Personality

Speaks in a flat, sibilant monotone. Frequently touches the pulse points of those they talk to without asking. Describes injuries in unsettlingly culinary terms.

Ideal

Efficiency. Life is a complex, beautiful machine; it is a crime to let it break when the parts are still salvageable.

Bond

The waterlogged anatomy textbook they carry; it is the only 'parent' they truly recognize.

Flaw

Cannot distinguish between 'healing' and 'repairing.' They will reset a bone with the same disregard for the patient's screams as a carpenter driving a nail.

Backstory

Born to the marsh-dwelling Black-Scale clutch, S'thokk was an anomaly—a hatchling who preferred observing the structural integrity of a dragonfly's wing over eating it. Their life changed when they scavenged a waterlogged, vellum-bound tome titled 'The Architecture of the Finite' from a drowned scholar. While their kin saw only fuel for a fire, S'thokk saw a map. They realized that flesh was not just meat; it was a series of levers, pulleys, and intricate biological valves. They began to view the world as a vast, interconnected machine, and themselves as the only one with the manual.

The defining fracture of S'thokk's soul occurred when the 'Screaming Rot' swept through their tribe. As their siblings melted into foul-smelling slurry, S'thokk did not wail. Instead, they performed a frantic, systematic series of field vivisections on the dying to find the plague's path. They discovered that the rot could be halted if the body's 'ki'—the internal pressure of the machine—was vented through specific meridians. S'thokk survived by literally stitching their own decaying immune system back together with Ki-infused sinew. Now, they wander the world as a wandering physician of terrifying pragmatism, treating life as a puzzle to be solved and death as a wasteful mechanical failure.

Abilities & Actions

The Marrow-Threader (Signature Item)

S'thokk uses a foot-long needle carved from a black dragon's rib. As a bonus action, S'thokk can spend 1 Ki point to cast 'Gentle Repose' or 'Spare the Dying' without components. When they use their 'Hand of Healing' through this needle, the target gains temporary hit points equal to S'thokk's Wisdom modifier (3).

Clinical Triage (Reaction)

When a creature within 30 feet of S'thokk drops to 0 hit points, S'thokk can use their reaction to move up to half their speed toward that creature. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks. If they reach the creature, they can immediately use their 'Hand of Healing' if they have the Ki points available.

Cold-Blooded Analysis

S'thokk has advantage on Wisdom (Medicine) checks and saving throws against being Frightened. They view terrifying monsters not as threats, but as 'fascinating specimens of non-standard anatomy.'

Hand of Harm: Anatomical Precision

When S'thokk uses their 'Hand of Harm' feature, the target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or have their speed reduced by 10 feet until the end of their next turn, as S'thokk strikes a precise nerve cluster.

DM Notes

S'thokk should never sound mean—only busy. Sample dialogue: 'Be still, warm-blood. Your femoral artery is weeping, and I find the rhythm... inefficient. I shall stitch it. Try not to vibrate; the Marrow-Threader dislikes shaky fabric.' Their signature gesture is tapping their own throat with two fingers to 'reset' their vocal cords. They react to threats by tilting their head like a bird, calculating which limb is easiest to harvest.
